Each person is unfamiliar with the torment and lamentation about the fact that someone would like to be like everyone else? Is this principle of life position good or bad? To begin with, you still need to figure out what it means to be like everyone else? This is like a set of unspoken rules that allow or prohibit a person from taking certain actions. On the one hand, this deprives us of our will and independence, because each of us is individual, he is an individual, restrained by the framework of “what will people think?”. On the other hand, in the life of people who are not self-sufficient, such a principle brings a sense of order and regularity of life. Everyone should measure on their own, there is no universal answer.
This problem worried many writers, including N. Gogol. In his story “The Overcoat,” he described the unremarkable state adviser Akaky Akakievich, who was mocked by his colleagues. Among them, a character was introduced, initially guided by the rule "to be like everyone else." He, along with the rest, tormented the main character with mockery, but soon this youngest official realized the incorrectness of his actions. I realized that he may not act like everyone else, have his own opinion that he may be more humane towards Akaki Akakievich. As you can see, the desire to adapt to the team is not always moral and ethical. Often it appears for fear of rejection in society. So, when people obviously behave badly and bad manners, it is worth thinking about their own, correct line of behavior, and not mix with the crowd.
On the example of the story “Chameleon” by the master of the miniature genre A. Chekhov, one can see how often it is difficult for people who have chosen this position of “being like everyone else”. Police supervisor Ochumelov, in pursuit of his life credo, rushes from one decision to another. His inability to make an independent decision played a cruel joke with the main character. Of course, in pursuit of the approval of public opinion, he could not express his opinion, and depending on the participant in the event, his position, the opinion of Ochumelov himself changed. As a result, the hero was unable to fulfill his professional duty, becoming a laughing stock for people. This means that in practice it is better to think with your own head, and not with the collective mind.
“Being like everyone else” is a very simple life principle, but is everyone interested in such a life? In my opinion, it is better to be a person with your own opinion, to develop yourself and help others in this. For himself, of course, everyone will decide for himself whether it is good or bad. In any case, each person is unique, and walking through life, everyone chooses his own tone, otherwise is it his life?
